"(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am" is the title of a song written by Jimmy Williams and Larry Harrison. Its best-known recorded version is by Nancy Wilson, which was a hit single in the summer of 1964, when it reached # 11 in the USA. It later received a Grammy for best R&B recording of that year.
Kiki Dee recorded the song in 1964 for the UK market. Although her original version was unsuccessful, she re-recorded the song in 1975 as a bluesy up-tempo rocker more simply titled "How Glad I Am". Credited to the Kiki Dee Band, it was released as the follow-up single to their hit "I've Got the Music in Me", and reached # 33 in the UK and # 74 in the US. Dee's version was also a Top 20 hit in the Netherlands (# 16) and Belgium.
"(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am" has also been recorded by Bonnie Bramlett, Ellen Foley, Maria McKee, and - as "How Glad I Am" - by Fontella Bass, Aretha Franklin, The Greyboy Allstars, Brenda Lee, Olivia Newton-John and Sandie Shaw.[1]
